Devotions for Christian Performers
|
One of the features I would like to provide here is a regular devotional message for those of you in the performing arts. I will attempt to update it once a week. This challenge may prove to be more than I can handle with my real job and family(wife and 3 kids) These messages will be personally written by me and I hope to incorporate some semi-original thoughts in them. March7 1999 Gen.1:1 In the beginning God Created... It has come to me recently that this is an amazing thought. The very first thing scripture records for us,after affirming the existence of God, is His creative nature. I know that there are many points of view as to what God intended when He said, "Let us create man in our own image",but I think maybe, just maybe, our creative gifts may be that image. No other creature on Earth has the drive to create like man. I think that we are never closer to what God intended than when we create some work of art, music, poetry ,theatre, etc. It seems to me this may be directly related to the reasoning of the prince of darkness in his attack on our society through these self same mediums. God in His very nature is creative. Even when He appears to destroy, He destroys to create. Much like a builder must clear from a lot the remnants of past construction before erecting some grand facade. Satan on the other hand creates to destroy. Or rather he convinces us to use our God given creative abilities to destroy. Look at our media today;television, film, music, dance, and live theatre, all have been commandeered by Satan in his attack. The very things God has given us to declare His Glory and the Majesty of His creation are turned against Him. So let us ,as stewards of the gifts of God, build up rather than tear down. Let us find a way to express the Love of the Father heart of God.
